Soulful Sundays: Overjoyed

Thank you Donna Summer.

Rest in Peace - Donna Summer, The Queen of Disco.
Donna Summer, who was the reigning “Queen Of Disco” during that dance genre’s pop era, died earlier today following a long battle with cancer according to a just published report from the Associated Press. She was 63 years of age. During her incredibly popular career (the 70’s but into the 80’s too) the Boston, MA born singer scored Grammy awards and ruled the radio and dance floors with such hits as “I Feel Love,” “Love To Love You Baby,” “Bad Girls,” “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls,” and the “She Works Hard For The Money” - that latter 1983 hit being one of her few non 70’s chartbusters. Arguably her most best & successful work was with producer Giorgio Moroder. Summer was only 63 - too young to go.  Rest in peace Donna Summer!

Velvet Kente’s Soul Funk Dance Party- I Take What I Want (Sam & Dave Cover)

File Under: Soulflower Group Cultural Exchange!

While in Little Rock we witnessed the dopeness that is Velvet Kente. We took SFG treats along for the journey. We can’t wait to go back again.

Members of Soulflower Group took a much deserved road trip to Los Angeles last week for Robert Glasper and Friends! We’ve decided this has to happen more often.

The fine folks over at Able + Baker laced us with a custom made Wu-Tang Cookie Cutter. We didn’t waste time breakin it in either. So far we’ve made Sugar, Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip. Gotta figure out how to make some Butter Pecan joints next.

Last night. All the elements arrived. Right on time.
Enter the Wu-Tang Soulflower Tribute.
